How to make a map of my city to decorate your living room
A city map works beautifully as decor because it blends memory, design, and place. You can use the city where you live, where you were born, or where an important story happened.
1. Choose the city and framing
Start by searching for the city, neighborhood, or exact place you want to turn into a poster. A wide frame works well for a full capital city, while a closer zoom is better for neighborhoods, historic centers, or street patterns people recognize.
2. Define the decor style
For a modern living room, minimalist black-and-white maps, soft tones, and low-contrast palettes usually work best. If the map is a gift, add a title, subtitle, or coordinates to make it feel more personal.
3. Match the frame size
Before printing, decide whether you will use a 30x40, 50x70, square, or panoramic frame. The composition should fit that proportion so streets, rivers, and text have room to breathe.
4. Download a print-ready file
When the design is ready, download the high-resolution map. If the file is vector-based, you can scale it without pixelation and send it to a print shop with much more confidence.
